Visualize standard candle bars of multiple timeframes simultaneously. The Multi-Timeframe (MTF) Candle indicator works by seamlessly overlaying standard candle bars of a higher timeframe (HTF) directly onto your current chart. This allows for clear, top-down price action analysis without the need to constantly switch between different timeframe windows.
The "X-Ray" Advantage for Hindsight Studies Think of this indicator as an X-ray or CT-scan for Higher Timeframe candles. By overlaying the HTF structural boundaries and precise Premium/Discount (P/D) fractional levels directly onto your lower timeframe chart, it reveals exactly how micro price action interacts with macro structures. For hindsight studies and backtesting, this delivers incredibly powerful insights—allowing you to clearly see the hidden narrative, exact reactions, and order flow within the inside of a single HTF candle that standard charts simply cannot show.
2. Logic
The indicator fetches precise Open, High, Low, and Close data from your selected higher timeframe to dynamically construct and draw the HTF candle on your current chart.
DualCandle Mode Menu: Adapts to the standard exchange session boundaries to frame the HTF candles or Intraday Custom Session Ranges.
ICT True Day Calculation: When activated, the indicator ignores standard exchange sessions and manually calculates HTF time bounds strictly anchored to midnight New York time (EST/EDT). It mathematically aggregates lower timeframe ticks to form the accurate HTF candle.
Fractional Levels: Automatically calculates mathematical divisions (Equilibrium, Quarters, Eighths) of the newly formed HTF candle's body and wicks, projecting them as precise horizontal levels.
Dynamic Visibility & Minimum Range Filter (MRF): Incorporates a smart visual hierarchy where smaller fractions depend on larger ones (e.g., 1/4 lines only show if EQ is active; 1/8 lines require 1/4). It also includes an E-MRF engine that automatically calculates the point distance between lines, dynamically hiding them if they become too tightly packed, preventing chart clutter.
3. Settings & Options
3.1 Main Settings
HTF Candle Mode Menu: seamlessly swap between HTF Resolution and Custom Intraday Sessions Ranges.
HTF Resolution: Choose the specific higher timeframe you wish to overlay on your chart.
Custom Intraday Sessions Ranges: When in Intraday mode, you can toggle and define up to 3 independent, fully customizable time blocks (e.g., Session 1: 0000-1500, Session 2: 1500-0000). The engine allows these custom macro candles to coexist on the exact same chart.
ICT True Day: When checked, aligns HTF candles to start strictly from midnight New York time. This ensures timeframes like 4H or Daily reset perfectly at NY midnight, matching the "ICT true start of the day" concept rather than standard exchange session boundaries.
Single P/D Range Mode:master toggle to calculate one unified Premium/Discount grid for the entire candle (from the absolute High to the absolute Low), rather than splitting the math between the Body and Wicks. The Body Line settings dictate the visual style when this is active.
3.2 Colors and Styling
Body: Select the fill colors for bullish and bearish HTF candles.
Border: Select the outline colors for bullish and bearish HTF candles.
Border Thickness: Adjust the line width of the HTF candle outline.
Border Style: Choose how the border is drawn (Solid, Dashed, or Dotted).
Wick Width (Bars): Adjust the horizontal thickness of the HTF wicks relative to the lower timeframe bars.
3.3 Body Lines
B-EQ: Displays the Equilibrium (50%) midpoint of the HTF candle body. Includes toggles for visibility, style, width, and color.
B-1/4: Displays the Quarter levels (25% and 75%) of the HTF candle body. Includes toggles for visibility, style, width, and color.
B-1/8: Displays the Eighth levels (12.5%, 37.5%, 62.5%, 87.5%) of the HTF candle body. Includes toggles for visibility, style, width, and color.
E-MRF (Equidistant Minimum Range Filter): to reduce clutter with a single toggle and point threshold for "Bodies E-MRF". The script uses a recursive cascade check—evaluating 1/8 lines first, then 1/4 lines—hiding them dynamically during low volatility.
3.4 Wick Lines
Wick Extremes (W-H/L): To explicitly plot the absolute High and Low boundaries of the wicks to cap off your visual ranges.
W-EQ: Displays the Equilibrium (50%) midpoint for both the top and bottom wicks. Includes toggles for visibility, style, width, and color.
W-1/4: Displays the Quarter levels (25% and 75%) for both the top and bottom wicks. Includes toggles for visibility, style, width, and color.
W-1/8: Displays the Eighth levels (12.5%, 37.5%, 62.5%, 87.5%) for both the top and bottom wicks. Includes toggles for visibility, style, width, and color.
E-MRF (Equidistant Minimum Range Filter): to reduce clutter with a single toggle and point threshold for "Wicks E-MRF". The script uses a recursive cascade check—evaluating 1/8 lines first, then 1/4 lines—hiding them dynamically during low volatility.
3.5 Smart UI & Master-Dependent Controls The settings panel has been rebuilt to dynamically adapt to your choices, keeping your workspace incredibly clean.
Gray-Out Logic:Implemented master-dependent inputs across the script. If you turn off a feature (like B-EQ, E-MRF, or switch to Single P/D Range), all irrelevant sub-settings (line styles, widths, colors, and wick fractions) instantly gray out and lock.
Smart ICT True Day: The ICT True Day toggle automatically disables itself if you switch to Intraday Mode, and its math now properly intercepts only on sub-day timeframes.
UI Width / Alignment Enforcer:Added a built-in Settings Panel enforcer block to mitigate TradingView's responsive UI engine, forcing the panel to maintain a minimum width so your inline settings do not randomly wrap to the next line on smaller screens.
4. Under the Hood: v6 Architecture & Optimization
This script has been completely built from the ground up utilizing modern coding standards, ensuring maximum performance, precision, and zero chart lag:
Pine Script™ v6: Coded natively in the latest iteration of Pine Script, taking full advantage of the platform's state-of-the-art backend processing.
Polyline Technology: HTF candles are drawn using dynamic Polylines, generating a single, unified, and visually crisp geometric shape that perfectly adapts to price action.
Object-Oriented Logic: Leverages advanced User-Defined Types (UDTs) and custom iterative methods. This vastly optimizes the execution flow, intelligently managing the script's memory overhead and ensuring real-time chart ticks update seamlessly without hitting line-count limitations.
